Overseas Security Advisory Council, OSAC

Mission and goals

The Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) is a Federal Advisory Committee with a U.S. Government charter that promotes security cooperation between American business, private sector interests worldwide, and the U.S. Department of State. The council’s mission is to provide a platform for the proactive exchange of security information that pertains to business and the private sector.

The Helsinki OSAC chapter, whose meetings are open to all AmCham members, focuses on security issues facing businesses in Finland. The local chapter is part of Nordic OSAC that also includes Norwegian, Danish and Swedish country councils and gathers once a year to discuss business and security in a conference setting. In September of 2009, the conference was held in Helsinki and co-hosted by AmCham Finland and the U.S Embassy. For more information on the Helsinki chapter, see http://helsinki.osac.gov.

Message from OSAC Chair:

“During its first three years, OSAC Finland has already become a true platform for businesses and security authorities to exchange information on security and risk management. We invite all American businesses in Finland to join this forum to benefit from the kind of experiences and information that are rarely available through public sources and can be very relevant to successful business execution.”
