Stop Wasting Energy - Make the Most of It
The AmCham Energy Committee wants to bring together the key players in Finland and the United States that have the ability to make a global difference in responsible energy consumption. Just like natural gas was initially burned as a nuisance in oil production, there are now numerous areas where energy extraction and efficient usage can be greatly enhanced. The misperception of energy abundance throughout the last century has made us complacent.
The Committee is servicing its members in two ways. First, as an active body - marketing, educating, helping in the search for matching business, development and financing partners. Second, the Committee is increasing the contact surface of its members with other entities that are looking for partners. The Energy Committee aims to establish relationships with sister organizations, national trade offices and other cooperation networks.
The Finnish and American politicians need to have extensive and correct information in order to shape the laws, regulations and proactive measures in the best interest of the environment. The public needs information about available technologies and ways of acting proactively. With the development of the AmCham Policy Committee, the Energy Committee has a powerful tool in bringing innovative ideas to the highest levels of the Parliament of Finland.
Current members of this committee include companies and research facilities from the areas of bioenergy, wind energy, energy measurement and conservation, battery technology, equipment manufacturing and financial services.
May 2009 AmCham Energy Committee travelled to Washington D.C. to meet the new administration and explore new opportunities.
