Chemicals Committee

Mission and goals

Officially launched in December 2007, the Chemicals Committee brings together member companies and individuals who have an expertise related to chemicals issues. The committee plans and coordinates AmCham Finland's efforts to assist American companies comply with REACH and SIEF regulations. The committee is chaired by Casper Herler of Hammarström Puhakka Partners.

On September 22nd, the Committee held a Joint Chemicals Seminar with the European Chemicals Agency in Helsinki.  In Spring of 2010, the Committee will host a seminar focused on providing US and European companies solutions to chemicals-related supply chain concerns.  Details will be made available later this year.

Message from Committee Chair:

“We facilitate discussion about REACH here on the Helsinki side, and are acting as a central point of contact for all those affected by the legislation, Americans as well as others. REACH is a process that will take years, so we will be addressing related issues for a long time, but we will also shape ourselves continuously to serve other needs that arise. We are a dynamic, young committee, and want to maintain the flexibility to adapt as the legislation’s impacts become clearer.”
